Visionary Warrior

In the mystery of life Don Quixote and Sancho Panza are the literary creation for the knight and visionary warrior of justice with his loyal humble servant and squire together with their horse that bears the weight of the journey.  Together they may form the one image of the struggle of being human.  In psychology such can be said of the horse as the Id of our human drives that carries the cross of its sins, the humanity of the Ego in attention to Sancho’s earthy wit and need to connect in relationship with “other” and the Superego of Don Quixote in the higher consciousness of something greater than ourselves.  In this image of human struggle we may see one body, soul, and spirit seeking a greater good, the good we were created to be.

In the mystery of the diaconate we can identify with the visionary warrior to follow as the early church disciples the call in faith, hope, and love.   I accept the call to be “deacon” servant of the Lord in humble loyal service guarding the temple from the destruction of sin.  It is a particular apostolate and gift given by the light of revelation in the journey of life.

“Jesus I trust in you.”
